I talked to a lot of people lately about the idea of a „Go Fingerboarding Day“ and I found out I was far from the only person with this idea throughout the last years.
However until now the idea remained a simple idea and was yet not made a reality.
I would like to ask you for your help in order to change this! :-)
Fingerboarding deserves a „Go Fingerboarding Day“!
I talked to a few fingerboarders from all over the world to find an annual date for a GFD and all suggestions and discussions ended up pointing towards DEC 21st for following reasons:
It is half a year before and after the annual „Go Skateboarding Day“ – symbolizing how skateboarding and fingerboarding complete each other. It is in balance!
It makes it easy to remember the date! (winter solistice)
It is a positive statement to celebrate the joy of fingerboarding and proofing the doomsters wrong with the first ever official „Go Fingerboarding day“ taking place the exact same day, the doomsters believe the world to come to an end! ;-) haha..
So, I hope dec 21st sounds OK to you as well! Sooner or later a date had to be chosen anyway, so why not try out with dec 21st and see how it goes? ;-)
I would like the „Go Fingerboarding Day“ to belong to all fingerboarders! It is NOT my idea at all but ours!!! It belongs to the community! :-)
You know I work at BRR, but this is NOT intended to be a BRR project. so everyone is welcome to maybe just meet up with friends for a fingerboard session, film a GFD-clip, use the logo etc.
Also all companies are welcome to use the „Go Fingerboarding Day“ anywhere they like to also announce a session, to post a clip etc.
My most important aim with this is to put the GFD into effect and to see how it will develop by itself.
I prepared a simple logo to start with, not saing it has to stay the „official“ logo for all eternity“. I just wanted us to have something to start with.
The logo is a pretty simple one, since I don`t really have any design skills at all.
It looks like a smiley, since we want to celebrate the joy of fingerboarding with the GFD, it features fingerboarding, and the simple round shape will make it possible for most fingerboarders and companies to tune the logo the way they like when using it in announcements and clips.
No need to say this is just a first logo and noone is forced to use it. :-)
I left out the date for the GFD in the logo on purpose so it can be used every year and no matter if it is more correct to write 12.21., 21.12., dec, dez, etc. in your country.
So when using the logo please make sure to add dec 21st the way you think fits the best! :-)
Also feel free to modify the logo if you like! Like I said before, the GFD is supposed to belong to all of us and choosing a date and a first logo is something I only did in order to take the basic GFD to the next level.
I hope you will help realizing the GFD by posting the logo, a clip etc.
The logo and info about the date (dec 21st) are free to go public from now on to make sure people can prepare for the GFD.
English (frensch, spanish ect.) is not my mother language so I hope you can help by informing others about the GFD in your own words.
I don`t intend this to become the biggest thing ever, I just think it would be fun to have an official day dedicated to one of the most amazing phenomenons ever -FINGERBOARDING!
