Product Blog: Berlinwood X ASI Berlin – Limited Laser Skull

April 13, 2016 by MartinB. | 7:34 pm

Battle At The Harrics is officially over now. And as some of you might remember, normally my bag is fully loaded with fingerboarding goodies when I´m back from Berlin. And even in 2016 it´s the same #luckybastard

So let´s start with a close look on the Berinwood X ASI Berlin limited skulllaserawesomeASIBerlinspecialdeck.

In Berlin I´ve recieved this deck on thursday and I thought about a special location for the pictures. This was not my first time in Berlin so I decided to go tot he old ASI Berlin outdoor spot directly at the Spree to take the pictures.

The skull patern is lasered into the botom ply and the graphic ist he classic ASI Berlin graphic. I could imagine this bottom ply would be super on a full dipped deck too. White out, black out, everything! I think you won´t get the chance to buy one of these deck. At the moment there are only three decks left. And these three decks are only available at the Blackriver-Store Berlin. I don´t think this series will be ever at the webshop.

I really like the fact that some companies produce something special for events. This is another good reason to go to fingerboard events as often as you can. But I´m sorry for all the people from the outside of Berlin who can´t afford a journey to BATH.
You won´t get a chance to buy this deck. I´m sorry. BUT you can buy some more and awesome Berlinwood graphic decks in every width and every shape you like. Just hop over to the Blackriver-Ramps webshop: Click!

Product Blog: BerlinWood – Forest Split0

December 19, 2015 by MartinB. | 8:04 am

Some weeks ago Timo Lieben put his headphones on and started a walk. He was listening to Wu-Tang for sure. Later on his walk he arrived at some bavarian forest and heard a really loud bsssss bsss bs sbsss bsssss. Timo was curious about that sound and walked into the deep black forest. There was just that bsssss bsss bs sbsss bsssss and a owl staring at him like “don´t go further my friend” . . . .

There was a tree. Not just a normal tree. Timo looked at it and in the treetop there was a beeyard. A huuuuuuge fucking beeyard. Timo just wanted to run away, but this one was some kind of magic. He looked on his Ipod and everything makes sense. Killa bees on a swarm! Timo was in total trance and went to the bottom of the tree. The bees recognized him as a friend and just let him watch. Some strong wind came up and the tree started shakin. A huge branch fall down on the ground. Timo decided to take this branch with him . . .

At the next day at the Berlinwood factore Timo looked at the branch the whole time. I think this was some kind of “Pinocchio-Effect”. Timo started to work on the branch. He worked 8 hours, 16 hours, 24 hours and fall assleep. At the next day he tought It was all a dream. He used to read Word Up magazine and dreamed about Salt’n’Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine. He started hangin’ pictures on his wall and was looking forward to his very Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl. Timo is a guy who let his tape rock ’til his tape pop.

He woke up and everything was finished. He created the Berlinwood Limited edition forest splitply decks:

Three-hundred and sixty degrees of perfected styles. Like everything what Timo does. Great work, again! While doing fingerboardTV I´ve received a lot of different decks. And even some really awesome and handmade splitply decks. You won´t get a cleaner split somewhere. I can´t imagine how Timo could create something like this. I think even Timo can´t remember the progress. Maybe the bees cutted the wood!? Get one. REALLY try to get one!!! Only 15 decks per color!!! Blackriver-Ramps webshop: Click!

Product Blog: Berlinwood – 2016 Winkler0

November 8, 2015 by MartinB. | 9:28 am

Martin Winkler is one of the true fingerboarding legends. He´s the head behind Winkler Wheels and he made the first pro fingerboard wheels several years ago. He was the first who put small bearing in the small wheels we need:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

(Took this picture in 2006)

We all know the fact that without Martin fingerboarding wouldn´t be at this high level today. Just check out his groundbreaking fingerboard part from Pissing Fingers 1:

I bought the album of this band after watching it more than 100 times! Watch the full video right over here: Click!

So I´m really glad one OG graphic is part of the Berlinwood 2016 product range. The Martin Winkler Winperium:

Berlinwood - Winkler 2016

The Winperium strikes back, always. This well known crazy guy should be a trademark. I think every fingerboarder on this planet knows Winkler. If not, go and buy his book and learn how to fingerboard.

Product Blog: Berlinwood – Timo Lieben Pro0

November 6, 2015 by MartinB. | 2:52 pm

Timo Lieben is the founder of Berlinwood. That’s right. He´s the founder of the first professional fingerboard brand we know. But that’s not all…

Timo Lieben is THE MAN. It´s hard to tell you everything Timo has done for fingerboarding. It´s not only having a brand, it´s about being a nice guy, pushing the scene forward and having goodtimes listening to Wu-Tang.

Berlinwood Fingerboards was founded by Timo in 2002 in a time when plastic was the most common fingerboard. Handcrafted 5 ply decks available to everybody distributed by the strongest influence to the scene… Blackriver-Ramps! I still remember ordering my first ever Berlinwood. It was around 2002/2003 and I´ve ordered a maple bottom Berlinwood directly from Timo. Since I started fingerboarding I got countless Berlinwood. Fresh wood, later on super fresh graphic decks. Timo did and does a great job.

Well, so it´s really an honor to me I got the Timo Lieben deck with me. So I took the ape to the beach:

Berlinwood - Timo Lieben Pro

Is the graphic meant to be as Stadtaffe? The big Timo moved from the big bad city Berlin to the Steig in Schwarzenbach!?

Product Blog: Berlinwood – Camo Cruiser0

October 13, 2015 by MartinB. | 4:15 pm

Part 5 of 5. The last new Berlinwood shape I´ve received some days ago. So lets have a look at this skull camo cruiser/shortboard:

Berlinwood - Skull Camo

Shape:

Berlinwood - Skull Camo

The concave/shape is one of the well known Berlinwood shapes. It combines a straight short tail with a short nose and a clean cruiser shape. I´m not sure this shape/cut is going to be realeased, but it looks fun. The cut of the deck is well done = normal madness at Berlinwood:

Berlinwood - Skull Camo

Should we call this a cruiser?! Or a shortboard!? Bombing some bowls and cruising down the streets. That’s what it´s made for!

Creating the first small wooden fingerboards, Timo Lieben from Berlin did great pioneerwork in 2002. He has provided the young fingerboard scene, which had been used to plastic boards up to that time, with the first usable wooden fingerboards. Until now Berlinwood is steadily in progress with its developments. Several generations of fingerboarders from all over the world appreciate and love Berlinwood fingerboards.
Berlinwood fingerboards are made of five wooden plies. Apart from being manufactured by professionals the fingerboards are “100% handmade in Germany”.
For the best possible performance the nose and tail of Berlinwood fingerboards have different lengths and angles like professional skateboards.

The Berlinwood website is online with a shit load of pictures and many facts behind Berlinwood. Make sure to check that out! CLICK CLICK CLICK!

One more time we got something different from Berlinwood. I really appreciate Timo still doing new things to create the perfect fingerboard for everyone out there. This board looks really fun and you oldschool fans out there should be hot on this one. If you think you don´t need a oldschool or cruiser board you might be right, but set one up and start fingerboard transitions. It´s so much fun you won´t believe! So get out your high socks and some Vans and start shredding!

As I told you allready yesterday and the day before, I´m a lucky mofo I got this. I´m really sorry to tell you, you can´t buy this oldschool variation at the moment. I really don´t know when/if they will be ever in stock. So stay tuned and buy a normal Berlinwood. You can get every graphic in every shape and size = TIGHT! Product Blog: Berlinwood – Rasta Graphic Oldschool Board0

October 12, 2015 by MartinB. | 7:01 pm

Part 4 of 5 and another new cut from Berlinwood. It´s an oldschool board again with a really delicate shape:

Berlinwood - Oldschool Rasta

I haven´t seen this graphic combined with an oldschool board up to now, so I think it´s some kind of new!?

Shape:

Berlinwood - Oldschool Rasta

The concave/shape is one of the well known Berlinwood shapes. It combines a straight tail with a spearhaed as nose. I´m not sure this shape/cut is going to be realeased, but it looks fun. The cut of the deck is well done:

In cooperation with Blackriver, Berlinwood presents the first professional produced Berlinwood Splitply Decks, handmade by Timo Lieben! Avid fingerboarders certainly stumbled over one or another splitply, but these decks are very rare, because of its elaborate production process. Berlinwood now starts with an absolutely limited series of BR Skull splitplys.

Black and white wood combined to make something great. And you might think the skull is printed on the deck, but no! This is a splitply deck! While doing fingerboardTV I´ve received a lot of different decks. And even some really awesome and handmade splitply decks, but this is just insane. You won´t get a cleaner split somewhere.
