Urban Talks: Reaper Fingerboard – Boardrails

March 4, 2017 by MartinB. | 8:14 am

Hey Folks, its ya boy Onkel Urban back at it again, with another review. So, there is this company called „Reaper Fingerboards“, that hit me up on Instagram. Before then, I had never heard of them.

At the moment, board rails are super trendy, thats why lots of company enter this business as well. But Reaper Fingerboards somehow stand out stands. Shaped boardrails are nothing new to me, but to see different shapes is always nice. So, as you may see those board rails are shaped like a bone.

Reaper Fingerboard Rails

Those boardrails are made with a 3D Printer, if you look really closely, you´ll see the lines of the 3D printer. It doesn’t bother me and it doesn’t effect your slide feeling negatively. So the Total length of those board rails is 44mm , 9mm wide and 1,5mm height.

Reaper Fingerboard Rails

The boardrails are coming with screw and are also avaible in different colors, i got white and black pretty basic but i like it. The screws are tiny so be careful when you set your boardrails up.

Reaper Fingerboard Rails

In total they are pretty well made compared to other companies and i think you wouldn’t regret to pick a set up. Im totally happy to have them and they going strong even after hard shred sessions!

Urban Talks: CocoRamps – Bench

February 21, 2017 by MartinB. | 6:34 pm

Hey guys and gurls, its ya boiii Onkel Urban back at it again with another review! I’m sure you’re all going to be in love with Coco and especially with „Cocoramps“ after this review. Yeah, today its all about the „Cocoramps“, a really unknown brand that should get more attention in my opinion.

What I’ve got here is a perfectly made bench with a symbiosis of minimalist design and high quality materials. The construction underneath is made from exotic wood and the white top thing is some sort of smooth mixture of plastic and concrete. Therefore, the material is super smooth and so are your grinds! The bench is 25cm long, 5,5cm wide and 5,3cm in height.

Coco Ramps - Bench

The bench is a basic obstacle and should be included in every fingerboard ramp collection. Most of the legendary spots in the history of skateboarding are benches so you know what I’m talking about.

Coco Ramps - Bench

In total, I can say that the bench is very well made and on a top level of craftsmanship. I have been shredding this thing for weeks and it’s still going strong.

Coco Ramps - Bench

I totally recommend you to grab one of these while they are hot! I know there will be another version of this bench sometime soon! (TBH, I already have one of them)

Coco Ramps - Bench

Atm, Cocoramps has no website, so the only way to purchase one of these badboys is through the Blackriver Store or via instagram (@cocorampsco), I guess.

Hope you enjoyed this review and thank you guys for reading!
Cheers guys,
Onkel Urban.

Urban Talks: Fingerboardstore.de – Matcha Bench

January 14, 2017 by MartinB. | 11:59 am

Hey Folks, Onkel Urban back at it again with another review.

Today im gonna talk about one of the legendary benches from the Fingerboardstore.de. At the end of last year Katha hit me up with one of the new colored “Matcha” benches.

Fingerboardstore.de - Matcha Bench

My first expression when I unboxed it, that thing is heavy.

Don´t get me wrong, the weight matters a lot because when you do a grind or slide and the obstacle moves or falls over, it´s a pain in the ass.

Fingerboardstore.de - Matcha Bench

The bench has a good size, around 4 cm height and around 24 cm long. The top material reminds me of marble or smth, it´s just super smooth and the color is brighter then sunshine.

Fingerboardstore.de - Matcha Bench

The edges are polished and the whole bench has a good finish. The construction under the top material is made of concrete of smth. In total, the bench does a good job and will last for a long time I guess. Its a bench, obviously, so it´s the perfect obstacle for any grind or slide trick. In my opinion everybody should have one of those. The size is perfect and it reminds me on the „Bänke of Berlin“ = a real know skatespot in the middle of Berlin. Imagine the tricks you do with your fingerboard on one of these benches –> next level shit and lots of fun!

Fingerboardstore.de - Matcha Bench

In total I totally recommend to grab one of these benches. As always is Katha pushing fingerboarding foward and especially with this obstacle. Go and check : www.fingerboardstore.de – the fastest shipping I know and always super krispy products!

Have a good one!

Urban Talks – Oak Wheels RV2V

November 14, 2016 by MartinB. | 6:04 pm

Yeaah boiiiiiz and gurls of course! You may have seen that I have my own section at fingerboardTV now. That means I’ll drop some of my brain juice more often for you.

At the moment, the most recent thing is the new shape from Oak wheels. RV2V, yeah I know it sounds like a bad disease but this disease is actually even sexier than Gigi Hadid.

Oak Wheels - RV2V

The new shape is actually a modified version of the good old RV2 shape. Bill Gates said: “Never stop a running system” and he is totally right. The height and the material is completely the same. So what’s the deal?

Oak Wheels - RV2V

The RV2V has a conical shape, this will give your whole setup a more realistic look. Yeah I’m always about that, I like it when my fingerboard looks like a big one. When you sneak a peek into the skateboard scene and on the wheel brands, most of them have a conical shape. That is the connection. So, when you skate and fb and you are one of the cool kids you should get them while they are hot.

Oak Wheels - RV2V

I have been using them since the beginning of October, and have to say they are that last missing detail. When I compare my FB to my SB, there is almost no difference besides the size and some colors of course. Performance is off the hook! Good as always but I expected nothing else. So what’s the point? The running surface is a bit wider than on the RV2. You have a tiny bit more grip. You could almost say the RV2V have the same running surface as the pool shape but the same size as the RV2.

Oak Wheels - RV2V

That’s revolutionary guys, it is what Ricardo was talking about. So in my opinion, I can totally recommend them, get them while they are hot. Be a part of the Fingerboard community and support the scene!

Urban Talks – Prete

November 8, 2016 by MartinB. | 5:35 pm

Hey Folks, Onkel Urban back at it again with another review. Here we go!

A few years ago Peter, the owner of Prete, gave me this deck. Test it, he said, ride it he said and so I did. And here it is, the review about the legendary Prete boards.

Prete Fingerboard

To be honest I have no idea where to start because there is so much to talk about. Straight out of the packaging, the first look is always important and Peter definitely knows that. Well okay the packaging is easy and nothing special but the only thing that counts is the content. When you take the board of the packaging you will see the brilliance and perfection of those boards.

Prete Fingerboard

Every edge is smoother then the lips of every top model on this planet and the counter sinks are made from heaven. 5-plys of perfection. Peter takes his time for every board and you can definitely see that. You wont find any small wood splits or cracks. You won’t find any ruff edges, everything looks perfectly made straight from the first look.

Let’s talk about the shape later and focus on the design. Well, you would probably say : Yo there is almost no design why you make such a big deal out of it? In my opinion there is a reason for this minimalistic design. I guess the reason is to go back to nature, if you feel the bottom ply of the deck you will feel the grain and see the veins of the wood.

Prete Fingerboard

The wood is special, some sort of a root wood thing or smth I don’t know. Every board is unique every design is some sort of unique too. Stamp design or even printed? I don’t know. It’s minimalistic but I truly like that. Specially that he doesn’t lacquere his decks. Yes you hear right no lacquere. He uses some sort of oil or wax which hardness the wood and holy duck you will feel it. You will threw slides out of your hand like a yung wizard fire balls. It’s amazing!

Let’s talk about the shape.

Prete Fingerboard

Super krispy! Medium kicks and a smooth con cave give you a pop like a rabbit on mdma. And even if you ride the board for a longer time it will not let you down.

Prete Fingerboard

The shape is good, but not my thing. I like it low more likely flat but the shape of the Prete boards will satisfy 90% of you guys I’m pretty sure about that. I ride the board for couple of months and it still looks smexy and still pops like a new one.

So to bring it on point, Prete boards are the diamonds of the fingerboard scene. Well yeah they share the spot with Flint boards but yes they are perfection! If you want to purchase one check the instagram of Prete boards or the homepage!
