Let´s say welcome on the Philippines, AGAIN! George Casem, the owner of McKenzie Fingerboards, sents me a wonderful letter filled with happines (5 Decks!!!) from one of more than 7000 islands of the Philippines. George is in the fingerboard game since 2012 so he knows how to roll.
Today we will take a look at the first deck of this batch. Its a real wear graphic deck named after Dr. José Rizal. check it out:
Shape:
The shape of this deck is the GU Shape in a width of 33mm. The GU shape is a well-defined medium kick and medium concave fingerboard shape. The tail is shorter than the nose and the nose is about 1 degree higher than the tail. This is what we call up to date. A super solid shape, nice plies, you won´t need more.

This graphic is named after Dr. José Rizal. I did not know who this guy was, so I´ve asked the internet for it. He was a Filipino nationalist and polymath during the tail end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. He is tagged as the national hero of the Filipino people. An ophthalmologist by profession, he became a writer and a key member of the Filipino Propaganda Movement which advocated political reforms for the colony under Spain. After all he was executed by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion after the Philippine Revolution, inspired in part by his writings, broke out. Though he was not actively involved in its planning or conduct, he ultimately approved of its goals which eventually led to Philippine independence. He is widely considered one of the greatest heroes of the Philippines and has been recommended to be so honored by an officially empaneled National Heroes Committee. However, no law, executive order or proclamation has been enacted or issued officially proclaiming any Filipino historical figure as a national hero. Dr. José Rizal lived from June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896. I think we´ve learned something new.
About this deck is a real wear graphic deck. The graphic is made from a real wear foil for a more realistic look. The graphic is really colorful and I like the basic and artsy style of the face. The graphic is done perfect on the fingerboard deck. This deck and all the plies are just super clean, I mean, look at the pictures. The color of the graphic are just super strong and fantastic! The edges are perfect round and the holes are straight and just perfect. This is just a perfect graphic fingerboard deck. This is a super high quality fingerboard. The McKenzie decks from last year have been made in a super high quality but this deck is another step in the evolution of McKenzie. You can really see how much love was given to this deck. Great craftmansship!

The plies are lovely, clean and basic too.
Every deck comes in a basic package with some sticker and a sheet of colored foam. This sheet of colored foam is without tape on the back, so it´s not a sheet of riptape. It´s probably in the package to keep the deck safe while shipping. Just get some tape and use this foam as nonslider for example.

Product Blog: Stinkefingaz – Skimboard Cruiser

Thinking about fingerboarding in Germany and the city Magdeburg I had just nothing in my memories. I´ve never been to Magdeburg in my “fingerboarding career” and I´m not remembering a bigger event in this city. Magdeburg is is the capital city and the second largest city of the state of Saxony-Anhalt here in Germany. It is situated on the Elbe river. Just checking out Google what you need to know about this city and the pictures look really picturesque.
Today we will change the position of this city in the fingerboard scene a little bit. Stepping away from a historic and picturesque city to fingerboarding. I´ve received a letter from Stinkefingaz a few weeks ago. The company Stinkefingaz is owned by Dennis and Kuno. I haven´t seen “normal” decks from this brand and the deck I´ve received is the widest and craziest fingerboard deck I´ve ever had. Let´s call this fingerboard skimboard cruiser. Check it out:
Shape:
The shape of this deck is crazy. I just needed to take it to the beach to take the pictures for this product blog. This deck is super super wide and the concave is just floating. This is a real skimboard. Put your trucks on and start floating. If you would make a normal popsicle deck in this shape, it would be 100% up to date and medium. The shape is well defined and the kicks has the right height. That means you have some crazy fingerboard deck which is still usable.

These fingerboard decks are shaped by hand. The parts for the splitply artwork was cut by hand too.The woodwork and craftsmanship is just great. The plies work perfect together and the colors are solid and clean. These decks are inspired by people, freedom and fingerboarding! The skimboard cruiser boards are the widest ones around with 37mm to 40mm. Each board comes with grip and in a handmade bag crafted in Magdeburg. This splitply deck is a special one, because it has this super nice FBTV graphic job. I think the graphic artwork on the bottom and on the top ply is made with a laser. It´s super clean and super fine. All the decks are one of a kind decks and each one will be only made ones.
The word Stinkefingaz is the fingerboarding kind of word for Stinkefinger. Something about 25 years ago this Stinkefinger was named after a famous soccer player called Effenberg here in Germany. They called the Stinkefinger “Effe”. You´re wondering what Stinkefinger means? Well, you might get an idea when you look at the logo of this brand on the bottom of the deck. . . to give somebody the bird, or fuckfinger or just the uplifted middle finger :-D
