Product Blog: YWheels – White Dual0

November 18, 2012 by MartinB. | 12:38 pm

As some of you know, I´ve received a big Y package this week.
Today we have a closer look on the new YWheels. White dual bearing wheels made for Y-Trucks – check this out:

And another one:
YWheels - White Dual

The yellow stripe on the wheels should be the outside when you screw them up to your trucks!

Ywheels were designed to fit perfectly on Ytrucks. They have centralized dual bearings. The hardness and grip of our wheels was tunned in various types of surfaces to provide better performance, stability and control.

These wheels + the new YTrucks up on my next setup :-)
I´ve tried those wheels on Alex Christ setup some weeks ago and the perform great. Round roooolling with some extra extra extra speed! Professional craftmanship as you know from other Y products – Y is not to do things by halves!

The wheels aren´t available in white at the moment, go and grab some black or clear once over here: Click!

THX again for sending! I really appreciate!

Product Blog: JACE – Black & White Wheels0

March 21, 2012 by MartinB. | 6:08 pm

Black & white . . . solid colors . . . time to rooooolllll:

Well! I´ve tried the wheels on Brr & Y trucks and they fit on both. On YTrucks you could use the normal washer system and on Brr trucks there is no problem to screw them up. BUT I dont know if there is any kind of bearing lock, so if not the wheels could slip on the truck like the old Winklers etc.. Just asked google but couldnt find any info about this fact.
The wheelcut is precise and clean and the wheels run on single bearings!

Go and check out the Jace website over here: Click! The wheels should be really soon in stock!

Product Blog – PION SingleBearing V2 Wheels0

July 4, 2011 by MartinB. | 3:55 pm

Some days ago I´ve received a package from Pion Fingerboarding straight outta Indonesia.
It includes some of their single bearing wheels in natural white. The wheel package looks a bit like a matchbox:

Took the wheels out of the package and they look like this:

The wheels are backless single bearing wheels and they are a bit smaller than Substance/Winkler wheels. Screwd them up first to normal TechDeck trucks:

with no problems and to Brr trucks:

with no problems at all. The wheels fit perfect on these trucks as you can see:

I dont have any Ytrucks with me :-( so I couldnt check those out, BUT the Pion website says it works as well. I think you have to use washers for perfect use with TechDeck trucks.

If you want to check out those wheels on the Pion website click right here: Click!
My advice for you, check out the whole Pion website by clickin right here: Click!

Really big THX to Pion for sending me this package :-)

FBTV Company Interview – Oak Wheels0

February 13, 2011 by MartinB. | 1:19 pm

Hello Ricardo! Tell us about who you are, where you from and whats your daily business.

Hey Martin, my name is Ricardo Carvalho (Oak in portuguese) Lopes , I’m 32, from Portugal born in Cascais (near Lisbon) but living in Oporto (north Portugal) for ten years. I’ve worked in several design agency’s has Communication Designer but now I’m a freelance designer pretty involved with fingerboard world.

How do you get in touch with fingerboarding?

I started my relationship with fingerboarding when I was like 13 years old. I don’t know if this means anything to you’ll and I can’t prove it, but almost 20 years ago I did a fingerboard and build a park. They where made of carton (deck/ramps), wood (trucks/rails), paper for the wheels(rolled paper) and a lot of glue. At the time they where a toy but my concern was to simulate reality and to play skate on my desk at home.
Some years after (more then 15 :P ) and already graduated, I’ve made a new friend on my new job, this guy was a designer like me and with a big passion for skate. He had a mini skate in his workstation, he won it on McDonalds, for him this mini skate worked like a memorial to the time when he used to skate. I’ve never seen a skate so small till that time, it really remind me the skates I’ve used to make almost 20 years ago with carton and glue. I’ve tried to make an ollie with it just to see if was possible, it was!!! :)
After some search we found the word Fingerboard, then Teck Deck, then wood decks and after some time this new friend who’s name is Philippe create’s a brand called Yellowood. This was how I started my relation with Fingerboarding.

How do you get your company started?

Oak Wheels was something that happened in 2007 but (founds reasons) started officially in the Summer of 2009. Till that time I’ve alway’s used regular bearing wheels, they were cool and worked fine, but I’ve always tough that they could be more real.
My addiction to fingerboard was “killing me” and after 2 years thinking in what was possible to do I finally get the money to make it. After 3 molds of prototypes, I had on my hands the first urethane Oak Wheels made. My first impression? Mucho Feeeeeeeling… The rest of the story you know it already ;)

What plans do you got for 2011?

Since the first Oak Wheels a lot of things happened, new colors, new versions always looking for the best relation grip/performance with urethane. I think that I finally made it with V.2, the feedback from the Oak Wheels Team and from all Fingerboard Community is great. My next step is to have all colors in V.2 and after it something new will happen ;)
Beside all products improvements, Oak Wheels, Yellowood and Ytrucks are working in a new place for fingerboarding called Ystore Terrace. This place will be the first place and store 100% dedicated to Fingerboarding. It will be sick and a big improvement for our national community and also for international community. Soon we will officially announce this new place ;)

Is this your daytime job?

For this last few months I’m dedicated 90% to Oak Wheels and 10% to my freelance job.

Whats your current setup?

My current setup is a Yw Z2 Brownie, Ytruks X2 White and some Oak Wheels White 2.0.

Do you have any „sneak-preview“ for 2011?

hum…. well there are already some shots around of something new and some other are being planned. but that’s it ahahahaha.

Which fingerboard experience you liked the most (contest/jam/session)?

Like everybody all international contests are amazing, FS3 was really cool, FF13 was also sick, the days after contest were amazing and of course Fingaspot our local contest, small but with a lot of potential, good vibe and good environment.

And finally do you want to thank someone?

First to FingerboardTV for the invitation and for all the support given since the star of Oak Wheels.
Thanks to all Oak Wheels supporters and Oak Wheels Team riders for believing in something different and to make it unique.

THX Ricardo! Now go and check out the Oak wheels website: Click!
