Product Blog: Harz4 – Regelsatz

January 14, 2021 by MartinB. | 10:47 am

Today we will take a look at some of the younger fingerboard brands in the German fingerboard scene: Harz4. Harz4 is in the scene for a while now, but it´s still a young company.

The head behind the company is Hennemann. Christian is in the scene since forever. Probably the most German fingerboarders know him for ages. I know him for more than 10 years. So let´s say aaaaages. Maybe you follow him on Instagram? If not check out his personal account: @chrizz.ly

Since Christian moved to Berlin, I really don´t know when, he is often in the Instagram videos of the ASI Berlin Shop. Why? First of all, he is a great fingerboarder and he supports this place.

If a great fingerboarder, who is in the scene for ages, with huge skills starts a company, he has a lot of know-how about other brands, he tried almost every fingerboarding product and he wants to do something else, to make his fingerboard even better. Not only for him. He try’s to close the gap between other companies with something new. Here we are: Harz4.

Harz IV - Regelsatz

And that´s maybe the background of this brand. Hennemann was on a mission to create a great fingerboard wheel for himself. The product is called „Regelsatz“. Today we will take a look at a set of white Harz4 Regelsatz wheels:

Harz IV - Regelsatz

Shape:

Harz IV - Regelsatz

The shape is the Regelsatz is in between a classic streetshape and a 90th wheel. The size of the wheels is not super small, but hot as big as a classic streetwheel. The width of the Regelsatz is more like a classic steetshape. So the wheels are shaped like streetwheels but not as small as we did it in the nineties. The wheels are backless and work together with all the pro fingerboard trucks.

Personally I like the look of streetshapes the most. 90th wheels perform great but I like the look of bigger wheels just more. This mix fits perfect in this space between the 90th and everything else. I like it and this is why I use them.

I received these wheels a couple of months ago. The timing was perfect. I just wanted to try something new and a fully new setup was “incoming“ because of one special fingerboard deck.

I am using these wheels for a couple of months now. Mounted to my YTrucks, the wheels are perfect round without wobbling. On YTrucks you could use the FIngerboardstore.de spacer but you do not need to. These wheels are some kind of backless, so they work without a spacer.

Fit: Perfect – Check!

The color of these wheels is solid white. The material of the wheels is super clean. White and clean like super bleached teeths. Many other brands other white wheels but most of are semi transparent if they are not made from polyurethane.

Color: Perfect – Check!

As I already said, I´ve received these wheels a couple of months ago. So I really tried them. And tried them. And tried them. And you know what? I really like them.

The material of the wheels is perfect. It is hard but surprisingly grippy with a great sound. The wheels are based on 3D printing and poured with polyurethane resin. TKY said these wheels feel like BONES STF skateboard wheels.

The bearings are after months of use still where they belong to. I’m using my fingerboard indoors and outdoors in all conditions. In the past some wheels can’t handle that, but the Regelsatz works perfect. The wheels are still part of my setup and I will probably ride them till they die.

Performance: Perfect – Check!

Personally I like the look of streetshapes the most. 90th wheels perform great but I like the look of bigger wheels just more. This mix fits perfect in this space between the 90th and everything else. I like it and this is why I use them.

Shape: Perfect – Check!

No you’re hot on more information about Harz4? You can get a great overview while listening to the Switchcraft Podcast episode with Hennemann. Just listen here:

How to order a set of Harz 4 wheels?

The wheels are available at the ASI Berlin shop. Probably these wheels are sold out quick. So you always need to hurry up. If there are no wheels left at ASI, just get in contact with Christian on Instagram. At the moment he offers a small stock of a new color he just dropped yesterday. HURRY UP!

You should follow:

@chrizz.ly
@harz4.bln

Please send your requests for wheels only to the Harz4 account and don’t spam Christian everywhere. Please not that Harz4 is a one man company and Christian has a normal life besides the brand. Really.

THANKS A LOT Hennemann for there wheels. I really can’t wait what’s coming next!

Product Blog: Ywheels – Y4 DualSW ASY

January 13, 2019 by MartinB. | 7:41 am

Ywheels dropped some harder 65D wheels something about one year ago. Something about two months ago Philippe released some new wheels. It´s not an update, it´s somehing different compared to the normal YWheels. He just released the Y4 DualSW ASY. These wheels are dualbearing wheels for sure with a new sort of shape. Check them out:

YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY

Shape:

YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY

More:

YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY

YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY

Footage:

And one more:

YWheels - Y4 DualSW ASY

If you know YWheels you should know that these wheels are available as Y3 and Y2 version. The Y3 was the latest release in 65D. I think this was a big demand by the scene riding harder wheels. I liked every generation of YWheels but the 65D wheels were my favorite. Every fingerboarder got his own opinion.

Now generation Y4 is available. To talk about the urethane, these wheels are hard 65D wheels as well. So Philippe took the harder material to create a new shape. THE ASY- ASY means Asymmetric shape and that means both sides of the wheels are not the same. The wheels are conical on the outside and square on the inside. This should help to lock in your grinds.

he main new features are:

– Advanced Fingerboard wheel design, conical on the outside and square on the inside to help you lock your tricks on grinds.
– Wider wheel base and bigger diameter, perfect for your big setups.
– Urethane Formula, Hardness 65D. The hardest wheels we make.
– Optimized relation grip/slide for better performance.
– Dual bearings have more contact in the axle, making the wheel more stable, with less wobbles and no jamming.
– Dual bearings with lubricated cream. Shield on one of the sides.
– Designed to fit perfectly on Ytrucks.
– Professional lathered for smooth ride.

I´m riding these wheels for something about two weeks now. I´ve used them on real concrete streets, on wood, on every surface I fingerboard. There are no flatspots and the bearings work fine. These are some high quality fingerboard wheels you could just use everywhere for a long time. You still have that urethane feeling, but a hard one. The wider diameter is perfect for al these wider setups in these days. If you like the look of bowl wheels but you think these are way tooooo big, then these wheels should be yours.

The wheels are available now. Just hop over to the YWebshop and get a set: Click!

THANKS again Philippe! These wheels are great!

Product Blog: Yellowood – Yellowprint

January 7, 2019 by MartinB. | 9:56 am

Something about two years ago Yellowood dropped their first and amazing 34mm deck lineup. I´ve used the YTrucks neutral deck for some more months and all I can say: 34mm is awesome. Today we will take a look at another 34mm flagship from Yellowood, the “Yellowprint” design (by Pedro Costa @Campovisual) deck for 2019. So consider this deck as an artist series deck:

Yellowood Fingerboards - Yellowprint

Shape:

Yellowood Fingerboards - Yellowprint

This deck got the reinvented z4 shape with 34mm width. The kicks on the new decks/shape are now more wide and round. Many of you got a Yellowood deck in the past and you will see and feel the difference. You can get a deck at Yellowood in 32mm, 33mm and 34mm!

And one more:

Yellowood Fingerboards - Yellowprint

Please note: On some of these pictures the deck is in a glass. It may look a little bit different. Trust me, it´s perfect.

What to tell about Yellowood?

Yellowood decks are well done, pro quality and the graphics are clean and sharp. In comparison to my last Yellowood deck I would say the quality of the print of this graphic is even higher than before. This fingerboard is handmade of 5 plies of exotic premium wood. The craftmanship is professional as always at Yellowood products. This deck will last a long time with excellent performance and pop. The Yellowood quality is tested by some of the best fingerboarders worldwide. 34mm decks/wide decks aren´t something new in total. But if you combine this deck with the YTrucks X5 in true 34mm you really got a gamechanger! You won´t regret buying such a new 34mm ship! I really like the width oft this deck, so I made this graphic together with my new X5 trucks to my actual setup. The blue is just stunning and I totally love this graphic.

Coming back to the deck, buy it right over here at the Yellowoodstore: Click! If you don´t like this super dope graphic at all, just take the one you like. The 2019 graphics are super colorful and cool. AND more decks are available in 34mm width. Get a set of YTrucks and you will ave the ultimate 34mm experience. BTW. Philippe just announced some some updates on YTrucks for 2019. Just check out @yellowood on Instagram to keep yourself updated!

HUGE shouout to Philippe for this super cool package!

Product Blog: Acid Tuning – Bushings

December 5, 2018 by MartinB. | 5:29 pm

Some days ago I´ve received a letter from Acid Tuning. I was really surprised about that package because it arrived in my mailbox faster than I thought about it. Acid Tuning is a bushing and pivot cup company from Russia. Surprised about the fact that these are from Russia? Y0u hear Russia again??? As I told you more than once, I´m a big fan of the fast growing Russian fingerboard scene. The owner of the brand is called Philippov Petr and the company is based in Saint-Petersburg (Санкт-Петербург). This is a beautiful city right at the sea!

So today we will have a look at the bushings made by Acid. I was really looking forward to this package because I really love good bushings. The package was filled with a lot of happiness for your fingerboard.

I´ve received 3 different colors of bushings. Check out the overview:

Acid Fingerbord Bushings

Lets check out all the three colors.

White:

Pink:

Green Swirl:

Acid Fingerbord Bushings

Acid Fingerbord Bushings Acid Fingerbord Bushings Acid Fingerbord Bushings

Footage:

All I can say is: these bushing are soft. Soft as hell for all the loose truck lovers with an awesome rebound. The trucks will be “pushed back” after every turn. Just awesome. The material feels like rubber but the bushings are bouncing like a bouncy ball. You remember the sentence “Do not overtighten nuts”? Well, it´s the same on bushings. To have cool medium or soft responsive bushings you should not overtight them. If you prefer a tight and hard setup you should take other bushings.

All the bushings have a really precise cut and shpae as you can see on the images. The shape of the bushings is perfect for Blackriver-Trucks, but I´ve mounted them to my Ytrucks and they work as good as on Brr´s. I didn´t receive a set of the pivot cups, but these look more than awesome on the Acid Instagram page: @acidtuning .

I really don´t know how much these bushings are. The only way to order is a DM on Instagram and all I can say about it, the last stock was sold out really quick. Up to now Acid is not the most famous bushing company on this planet, but the bushings work superb and are one of the best soft bushings I´ve ever had. And the shipping was fast, thats another +.

THX a lot Philippov for these super nice bushings. Cant wait whats coming next from Acid! You´re on the right way.

Product Blog: Blackriver-Trucks – The 34mm Affair

December 4, 2018 by MartinB. | 5:17 pm

After the release of the latest limited edition deck made by Berlinwood I was in contact with Timo Lieben. He told me that he will send me one of these decks soon. As I received the package, there was not only one Berlinwood deck in it, the package contained two Berlinwoods and one set of the new 34mm Blackriver-Trucks. Since Martin from Blackriver and me had some disagreements in the past and we stopped working together I was really surprised by these set of trucks.

Well, let´s talk about these trucks in general.

Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm

Hands down, Blackriver-Trucks are some of the best fingerboard trucks on the market. They perform great, look great and after a few bugs of the first generations they work perect. Don´t get me wrong, this is not my first set of Blackriver-Trucks and I never had issues with them, but I would consider me more as an advanced user and I know how to treat fingerboard stuff right.

So check them out:

Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm

Shape:

Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm

More:

Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm

Footage:

And one more:

Blackriver-Trucks - 34mm

The BRR trucks pack contains:

– 1 pair of BRR trucks incl. special locking nuts
– 8 mounting screws
– 1 tool for easier installation

This edition is available in black, silver and gold. Three clean colors.

BUT, you´ve probably noticed that this product blog is called “The 34mm Affair”. You´re asking why? Well, since the trucks were released a few weeks ago a small shitstorm started. Why? These trucks aren´t 34mm they are actually 33mm. 1mm less and everybody screams…

Why? OK, if you order a set of fingerboard trucks in 34mm you want some trucks in 34mm. Thats a good reason to get angry. Maybe Blackriver should switch the name to 33mm and put new stickers on the packages. I don´t care. Think about that 34mm trucks are wider than the 33,3 mm Berlinwoods. Would you really use wider trucks than your deck? That looks horrible. Since Berlinwoods are available in 33,3mm I´ve waited for 33mm BRTs. Now the trucks fit perfect to some of the best fingerboards on this planet. Just because one hater posted the measurements on the web everybody is hating. I think our whole scene has bigger problems than that. Some of you guys should grow up.

So you have a 34mm deck and the trucks are to small for your battleship? Well, I´m using a 34/35mm deck made by Greasy at the moment. You could use big wheels like the Fatman wheels or just buy other trucks. YTrucks for example are wider than these. Thats a way you get the widest combo as possible. Or just buy these and shut up.

Don´t get me wrong, I´m not saying it´s OK to sell these 33mm as 34mm trucks, but for me it just doesn´t matter. I don´t give a fuck at all.

Just my two cents about this. I´m happy to have a set of these trucks. Thanks a lot Timo and Martin. You guys wanna buy a set? Get them right before christmas: Click!
